Vancouver police investigating suspicious sudden death

Vancouver police are investigating what is being described as a suspicious sudden death in the southeast end of the city.

Vancouver police are investigating what is being described as a suspicious sudden death in the southeast end of the city.

Police were called to McIver’s Appliance Sales and Service, located near Ontario Street and East 69th Avenue, shortly before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. John Leslie McIver, 78, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detective are now investigating and no arrests have been made.

The suspicious death comes just one day after the city’s fifth homicide of the year. On Tuesday night police were called to the area of Main Street and East 35th Avenue after reports of a shooting in an apartment building. Officer found a man in his 30s dead from a gunshot wound.

Officers arrested a 30-year-old Vancouver man in that case.
