Hot fried chicken and ice cream sandwiches: Together at last! This seemingly unholy union is actually a dream combo of sweet and savoury, and the result is a pair of special-edition mash-up summer treats you'll want to get your hands on while you can.

The Downlow Chicken Shack and Mister Artisan Ice Cream have merged their respective eastside Nashville Hot Chicken and Yaletown liquid nitrogen ice cream vibes to produce the Jalapeño Honey Ice Cream Sando and the DL Pineapple Ice Cream Sando.
First up - and the most exclusive one - is the Jalapeño Honey Ice Cream Sando, which will be available only on Saturday, July 13 at DL Chicken, at Brewery and the Beast on July 28, and at an upcoming Mister summer social.
This insane treat swaps out your expected ice cream sandwich cookies for fried chicken skin crisps. The ice cream takes its jalapeño honey inspiration from a DL Chicken sauce.
“Ice cream and fried chicken is the ultimate combo, and Mister makes some of the best ice cream around,” says Doug Stephen, co-owner of DL Chicken.
“We definitely wanted to create some unique flavours and the Jalapeño Honey Ice Cream Sando especially hits home because its inspired after one of our signature sauces, the Jalapeño Honey. The Mister team got it so right. Sandwiched between our chicken skin crisps, and that combination of salty, sweet, and spicy really hit the spot.”

While the chicken skin sando is the more elusive of the new duo, the DL Pineapple Ice Cream Sando will be available at both DL Chicken and Mister starting Sunday, July 14.
This hot-and-cool treat features Mister pineapple ice cream, Ritz cracker crust “buns”, and is paired with DL Chicken’s signature hot dust for that extra heat. You can select just how hot things will get, ranging from from classic (no spice) to medium and hot levels, too.
DL Chicken is located at 905 Commercial Drive, and Mister is located at 1141 Mainland Street in Vancouver.
