The sober-party enthusiasts who organized Vancouver’s last summer bike rave return with an undie-clad mobile dance party.

Cohosted by BN3TH Radically Better Underwear, the Vancouver Undie Run offers participants the chance to explore downtown Vancouver while donning their most revealing, comfy attire and dancing the night away.

Formerly known as Party4Health, the group strives to provide opportunities for people to engage with one another in a “party” atmosphere – minus the toxic social norms associated with conventional partying. Group founder and Chief Party Scientist at VYVE, Jacques Martiquet, reports that, “We get high off human connection, not drugs and alcohol.”

Participants are encouraged to dig out their flashiest underpants or costumes before they hit the streets in euphoric splendour. Body-rocking beats will be blasted from a portable SOUNDBOKS as the group travels down Davie Street, through a parkade, and then ends at in the notorious-for-street-parties, the Pink Alley Way.

“When you remove clothes, you remove your inhibitions.” says Martiquet. “We started in 2017, and there were 5 of us. Now there are 50 of us. And soon, there will be 500.”

“People generally smile when they see a group of people dancing in their underwear. It’s a flood of joy.”

The 5K jog is for all fitness levels, and takes place on Aug. 3 at 8 p.m.
