A Reddit user has posted a picture of a rat that was allegedly trapped inside of fridge in an East Vancouver 7-eleven this week.

The image shows a dark-grey rodent hunched over in the corner of the fridge with an assortment of bottled soft drinks behind it. The animal appears to be alive, but it's hard to tell exactly what it's doing in the picture.

Reddit User u/CoastalTW posted the snap to Reddit Vancouver over the weekend, and it has generated a great deal of controversy in the comment section.

One commenter asks if the rat was alive, to which the poster alleges, "Yea. I have a video of him scurrying around."

In addition, the poster notes that they did not open the fridge and let the animal out because it would have access to the main floor, and that they assume it was removed by staff. They also allege that the picture was taken at the Hastings sunrise 7-Eleven, which is located at Hastings and Lakewood.

Another commenter exclaims, "Holy [expletive] that’s a big [expletive] rat. I thought it was a raccoon at first glance," while another alleges that, "I saw one at the Ladner 7/11 a couple weeks ago, wasn’t that big though."

The post has been up-voted 1011 times on Reddit Vancouver since it was posted and has 186 comments.

Vancouver Is Awesome reached out to 7-Eleven's corporate office for comment and has not heard back.

Vancouver was named the rattiest city in the country by Orkin, Canada’s largest pest control company, for a third consecutive year. What’s more, Burnaby, Richmond and Surrey all placed in the top five. As such, it is safe to say that Metro Vancouver is rather ratty, as the rodent population continues to soar throughout the region.

Last year, a woman posted a video of a cooked rat in a bread bowl that she was served at Crab Park Chowdery in Vancouver to her Instagram account.
