A popular smoked salmon product is being recalled from the marketplace in B.C. due to a possible listeria contamination.

Delta Pacific Seafood Ltd. is recalling its Western Family brand Original Wild Sockeye Smoked Salmon Nuggets that are sold in stores across B.C., Alberta, and possibly across the country. So far, however, there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
The recall was issued on Thursday, July 25, and people must not consume the recalled products. In addition, those who are unsure if they have purchased the affected product are advised to contact their retailer.
The UPC is 0 62639 35065 9 and there are two codes on the product: 11720516 and 11720517.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is currently conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.
Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick.
Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die.
