A reckless driver was captured on video speeding in the wrong direction on the Lions Gate Bridge on Friday, July 26.

Captured on a bright sunny day, the dashcam footage shows a white vehicle moving rapidly through traffic in the wrong lane on the Lions Gate South. The video was recorded by James Wang on Friday at 2:38 p.m.

"The traffic was not too busy, we were driving around 50-60km/h on the bridge," Wang told V.I.A. in an email.

"Suddenly this car was very fast came up the bridge with about 100km/h all the way until other side of the bridge near the entrance joint point to the park then light changed to green."

Wang notes that he is a Graduated Licensing Instructor (GLP), and that the car had an Alberta licence plate. He adds that he has seen, "so many drivers from Alberta and Washington driving crazy on the bridge all the time."

Wang also remarked that it would be useful to have cameras on both sides of the bridge to ticket dangerous drivers.
