UPDATE - Friday, Aug. 2: Dale Rolland Alexander, a high-risk sex offender who failed to return to his halfway house, is back in custody after being arrested by Vancouver Police.
Patrol officers, with assistance of a police dog, located Alexander hiding in a wooded area of Stanley Park shortly after 8 p.m. last night.

Vancouver police are asking for public assistance in locating a high-risk sex offender who failed to return to his halfway house Thursday.
Dale Rolland Alexander is now unlawfully at large and wanted Canada-wide for breaching his long-term supervision order, police said in a press release.
The 47-year-old is a two-time federal offender who has completed a jail sentence for sexual assault, kidnapping and uttering threats. He was released from prison on a long-term supervision order that requires him to live at a halfway house.
Alexander was last seen Thursday morning and his whereabouts are unknown.
He is described as Metis, about 5’10” tall and weighing 175 pounds with a shaved head, blue eyes and glasses. Alexander was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black track pants, grey running shoes and carrying a gray backpack.
Anyone who sees Alexander, or has information about his whereabouts, should call 911 immediately.
