A highly distraught family has came forward saying that they were verbally abused by a stranger at a Metro Vancouver nail salon on Friday night.

The incident took place sometime around 7 p.m. at Icon Nails & Spa in Surrey's Guilford neighbourhood. Margaret Young was at the salon with her two daughters getting pedicures when they say that a woman began to harass them.

The eldest sister, Dani Lynes, posted about the incident on Facebook, noting that her younger sister, who has special needs, was verbally assaulted by a woman.

"While she was paying at the counter she yells at my sister to stop staring. My Mom didn’t realize until I said she’s talking to Courtney. My Mom says she’s special needs, she doesn’t understand," she wrote.

Lynes adds that the woman responded, "with a statement with the effect to “teach your [expletive] daughter some [expletive] manners."

Following this, Lynes writes that the woman proceeded to say a litany of horrible things to her sister, which included shaming her mother for bringing, "an idiot into the world."

According to the post, a number of women in the salon got involved in the altercation, many of whom were in the middle of their appointments. Lynes added that her little sister was crying, and a man outside locked them in once the woman who was harassing them was outside.

Vancouver Is Awesome spoke to Phong Nguyen, Owner, Icon Nails & Spa, who stated that she'd never seen the customer in the salon before.

"This is the first time I've ever seen her," she said. "She was paying when she started yelling at the girl."

Nguyen notes that there were a number of people in the salon when the incident took place and that everyone stopped what they were doing.

Lynes says she called 911 three times but that it took 45 minutes for officers to arrive.

Vancouver Is Awesome spoke to Surrey RCMP who confirm that officers did attend the salon on Friday, Aug. 23 and that there is an ongoing investigation. However, no charges have been laid at this time.
