So far there is little information about the circumstances surrounding the discovery, including where the remains were found.

Members of North Shore Rescue were called out to assist North Vancouver RCMP at a backcountry location Sunday evening and continued to help police until Monday afternoon.

In a statement, the BC Coroners Service said staff are “currently investigating to determine how, where, when and by what means the individual came to their death but have no further details to provide.”

There are at least two North Vancouver missing persons who have not been found, despite being the subjects of appeals for information from the public.

One 30-year-old man went missing from his North Vancouver home in November.

Another 60-year-old Lynn Valley man - who was known to frequent Lynn Headwaters Regional Park, the Rice Lake area and the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve - went missing in April of this year and has not been found, despite numerous searches and public appeals.
