A convoy of 200 logging trucks will be rallying in downtown Vancouver on Wednesday

If you're driving in Vancouver on Wednesday, September 25th you might want to plan ahead and allow extra time to reach your destination.

At 10am a convoy of 200 logging trucks will be leaving Merritt B.C, headed for the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Driving across the Port Mann bridge, they'll be taking the Hastings Street exit around 2pm when they'll be met by the VPD who are providing an escort for them.

From that point they'll roll towards the water, pass by the Convention Centre and make a loop back out of town.

Dubbed the BC Logger Rally, a release by its organizers states that it's "being coordinated in support of the industry, and the affected communities, and the create an awareness of the situation to stimulate and generate solutions to the outstanding problems the industry is facing."

Their destination is the convention of the Union of B.C. Municipalities, taking place at the Convention Centre this week.

They state that "The Forest Industry in BC is in dire straits, and our communities are facing some very troubling times. Most of the Loggers and Truck Drivers haven't turned a wheel this summer, and there are limited options for where they can operate."

They hope to get the attention of the government, demanding that they "engage in immediate action to rectify this dire and quickly deteriorating situation" that the forest industry in.

You'll see them doing just that tomorrow if you're driving anywhere near downtown after 2pm.
