The 195-year-old Scottish whisky brand The Glenlivet has released a video which either signals the beginning of the end of their brand, or is a really great marketing prank.

They published the video below on Twitter, showing "A collection of edible cocktail capsules" that have "sustainable packaging".

Basically Tide Pods with 23 mls of whisky in them.

According to Food & Wine, the capsules were launched yesterday as part of London Cocktail Week, and aren't available in North America just yet.

At the time of this writing the video has been viewed 5.3 million times.

If this isn't a joke and the idea of drinking whisky in the form of capsules takes off as a global trend with Canadian whisky companies getting on board, I will renounce my citizenship.

While we wait for that to happen, check out some great local whisky (best enjoyed out of a glass, on ice) made at these Vancouver distilleries:

- The Liberty Distillery on Granville Island

- Odd Society Spirits on Powell Street

- Yaletown Distilling Co in Yaletown (duh)

- Long Table Distillery on Hornby

- Sons of Vancouver in North Vancouver
