A hauntingly beautiful art exhibit takes place on Granville Island this Halloween season in Vancouver.

Ghosts of the Lower Mainland: An Art Exhibition in UV Light offers a stunning collection of British Columbian landscapes by a popular Vancouver artist.

A Juno and Journey Prize nominee, Josh Byer's mesmerizing creations have been exhibited in Los Angeles, Toronto, and Vancouver alongside Picasso, Dali, Matisse, and the Group of Seven.

Byer's vibrant paintings contain hidden images which become visible only when exposed to UV light. As such, attendees will be provided special flashlights to reveal these secret pictures, which are designed to inform the viewer about the social, historical, or environmental context of the original composition.

Additionally, a new series of art cards will be launched at the exhibition. “Byer’s Monster Box” is an all-original collection of hand-painted monsters and packaging.

Nearly 500 of Byer's "Faux Fauvist" artworks have been completed to date. What's more, his paintings have been featured in 100+ publications including Relief, OPALUS, Style.ca, The Other Press, VICE, Creative Boom and 1968 Magazine. He's also appeared seven times on the front page of Reddit, and fifteen million people have now viewed Faux Fauvist artworks both on and offline.

The exhibition is free-of-charge and will run from Oct. 25 to Oct. 28, 2019 at Studio 13 Fine Art at 1315 Railspur Alley on Granville Island. Guests may browse over 40 original artworks that will be available for purchase.

There will also be an Artist’s Reception on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Free gift bags will be available at the reception.
