After a successful inaugural year, the VHS is rolling out the “blood-red carpet” Oct. 25 and 26 at the York Theatre for a bigger, better, scarier sequel event.

Over the two nights, viewers can look forward to watching 32 terrifying short films from nine countries and the premiere of the Vancouver-based horror feature Puppet Killer, directed by Lisa Ovies and written by Kevin Mosely.

Shot entirely in British Columbia, with unbelievable practical effects, comes the story of a Christmas weekend getaway gone horribly wrong when the terrifying truth behind a childhood puppet is revealed...

Meanwhile, the short film section seems to have something for everyone to get a fright out of.

With titles like It Lives In The Closet, Feast, Make Me A Sandwich, Boo and Dance with a Demon, you are sure to see something that could inspire nightmares. Well, hopefully.

The VHS is a cultural event and a registered charity that provides a platform for emerging talent in the world of independent filmmaking.

“Horror is an exemplar genre to tell stories about the world we live in through a lens of the unimaginable,” say VHS promoters.

“What terrifies us, is what unites us.”
