Metro Vancouver teen who was 'late for grad photos' caught speeding

The RCMP’s traffic enforcement unit has been handing out tickets to some drivers who just don’t seem to get the message about safe practices on the road.

For Burnaby RCMP, the arrival of winter is a time to fear.

It’s a time when the weather gets ugly – like we saw on the morning of election day when it rained like a monsoon, or on Friday when power was knocked out all over Burnaby.

So, the local RCMP has stepped up its messaging around driver, pedestrians and cyclists paying more attention to the bad conditions.

The RCMP’s traffic enforcement unit is also handing out tickets to some drivers who just don’t seem to get the message.

Police were out catching speeders on Barnet Highway on Friday.

“As we get closer to winter and road conditions worsen, our traffic unit was out today in conjunction with units across multiple jurisdictions enforcing speed limits, catching 21 drivers well above the limit, including a student late for grad photos doing 41 km/hr over the limit,” read a Burnaby RCMP tweet.

“Simultaneously at another location our traffic enforcement officers were out at a busy sky train station educating pedestrians on pedestrian safety while also issuing 7 VT's for more serious MVA offenses.”
