Vancouver police Wednesday announced the arrest of a 25-year-old woman following a months-long murder investigation that started in 2018.

Shannon Watts has now been charged with one count of second-degree murder for the death of her common-law husband, 26-year-old Shane Tolmie.

Vancouver police began investigating the death after patrol officers were called to Watts’ Downtown Eastside apartment on June 28, 2018. Tolmie had suffered a stab wound inside the apartment. He later died in hospital.

Watts was arrested at the scene but later released pending completion of the investigation and approval of the charge by Crown counsel.
