A man caught on video kicking at a bus door and apparently spitting at a bus driver was apprehended by Burnaby RCMP under the Mental Health Act two days later on an unrelated matter.

A video showing the bus incident, which happened on the #123 New Westminster bus in Burnaby at about 4:15 p.m. by Hardwick Street and Canada Way, was posted on Facebook Tuesday.

On Thursday, Metro Vancouver Transit Police said Burnaby RCMP had apprehended the man.

“Arresting officers recognized the man as the suspect in the social media post,” stated a transit police press release.

Transit police investigators will continue to follow-up on the file, but no further information will be released “given the medical circumstances surrounding this file,” the release said.
