"Is your backpack the cause of your back problems?"

Described by its creators as the "world's first built-in back massaging backpack," Eume claims that its sleek design will reduce strain on the wearer.

The backpack massages your back and shoulders while you're wearing it, and it also has comfortable padded straps. So, if your commutes around the city are a "pain in the neck," Eume states that the pack will alleviate the tension by increasing blood flow.

The sleek creation comes in both a daily pack and a travel pack, and both come with a number of features. Not only is the pack waterproof, but it also comes with a USB charger, as well as antitheft pockets to stop would-be thieves from snatching your belongings. As such, it is ideal for wet weather and travel.

The backpacks also have a number of hidden pockets, as well as reflectors that help you be seen. This is especially important during the winter months in Vancouver, when visibility is poor.

"Naina Parekh first came up with the idea after noticing her back getting sore while carrying her bags from one work conference to another during her travels," says Saurabh Patel, Engineer, Eume. "One day, she found herself wishing she could get a massage to relieve the tension in her back."

"After that, she was having a conversation with her son (who was studying at that time) about the need for shoulder bags that would help carry heavy weight which not straining the back as her son also used to carry heavy bags which usually made his shoulders sore."

There are three modes:

  • Mode one activates the top massagers,
  • Mode two activates the bottom massages, and
  • Mode three activates both massagers at the same time

Patel also notes that, "One of the most important moments for us was when Mr. Daymond John from Shark Tank tried this backpack for the first time and his sheer delight to have experienced the product."

He remarks that John said it was, "the coolest thing that could happen to a backpack," which really validated the work that they had done.
