TransLink has confirmed that 6 SeaBus sailings will be cancelled today as a result of the transit strike issued by Unifor, the union representing bus operators and transit maintenance workers.

According to the transit authority, the following sailings will be cancellation this afternoon:

  • The 4:10pm from Lonsdale Quay and 4:25pm from Waterfront will be cancelled
  • The 6:20pm from Lonsdale Quay and 6:35pm from Waterfront will be cancelled
  • The 7:30pm from Lonsdale Quay and 7:45pm from Waterfront will be cancelled

TransLink has been scaling back sailings on the busy Waterfront to Lonsdale Quay connector since Friday, Nov. 1, when Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC) operators and maintenance workers represented by Unifor began job action.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, the transit authority cancelled 20 sailings, and then 16 sailings were cancelled on Sunday, Nov. 3.

TransLink has also announced that it anticipates some possible disruptions to bus service today. However, it has not clarified which routes will be affected, or how many.

The initial phase of the strike action began on Nov. 1 at 8 a.m., with operators not wearing their CMBC uniforms and maintenance workers not doing overtime.
