It took place on Wednesday, with the local traffic unit conducting Commercial Vehicle Checks in Burnaby along with partners from the Vancouver Police Department,  New Westminster Police Department, Delta Police and Passenger Transportation.

“Once again, many vehicles were found to be unsafe with nearly half of vehicles inspected taken off the road,” Burnaby RCMP tweeted.

Here are the scary numbers:

- 36 inspections

- 16 commercial vehicles deemed unsafe and towed away

- 35 mechanical defects identified

- 34 violations, including vehicles unsafe to haul cargo

So, according to the math, nearly half of the vehicles inspected were hauled off of the road.
