Unite Here Local 40 negotiators on the weekend reached a tentative agreement with Rosewood Hotel Georgia counterparts on the weekend that could end an eight-week strike at the hotel.
Workers are voting today on whether to ratify the agreement.
Neither side has yet revealed details of what is in the agreement.
“We have finally achieved the contract we deserve,” said May Tanjusay, room attendant and union bargaining committee member at the hotel in a release.
“We’ve shown this hotel and others in Vancouver that hotel workers will fight for respect and a fair workplace.”
The more than 200 workers at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia on September 23 joined about 1,000 striking counterparts at the Hyatt Regency, Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront and Westin Bayshore hotels – workers who went on strike September 19.
Workers had been asking for higher wages and better working conditions.
The Rosewood Hotel Georgia sent BIV a statement during the strike saying that it was committed "to achieving a fair and reasonable collective agreement that protects the rights and improves the wages and working conditions of employees."
