It takes two years and upwards of $35,000 to produce each certified dog, and yet these canine companions are provided for recipients free of charge.

Guide Dogs help a person who is blind or visually-impaired navigate their surroundings safely and independently; guiding their partner around obstacles, while providing companionship and promoting social inclusion.
“Annie has given me more freedom than I have ever experienced,” says Guide Dog recipient Ed. “I used to walk around using my long cane and felt that people didn’t want to talk to me. Now that Annie is taking me places, people are coming up to talk to me and to meet Annie.”
Autism Service Dogs increase the safety and security of children with autism. Other benefits include reduced stress and anxiety, allowing for greater participation in school and social activities.
Before Bailey joined their family, Darcy had to be held on to at all times for fear that he would run onto streets or disappear into crowds. “Bailey has changed our lives for the better. Now when we go on outings, Darcy has more independence and freedom tethered to Bailey and no longer tries to run away,” says Darcy’s mother.
PTSD Service Dogs are matched with military and RCMP Veterans living with an Operational Stress Injury. The teams embark on a 52-week Healthy Community Living Program that teaches strategies to help community transition; providing them with renewed purpose, confidence and unconditional support.
Military Veteran, Matt was basement-bound until he was paired with PTSD Service Dog, Monty. “I can now go to the pharmacy for my medications and I can also get groceries with Monty by my side. He has given me the mobility and confidence to be out in public.”
