A North Vancouver man has been charged with possessing and distributing child pornography as well as internet child luring following an investigation by the RCMP.

In August 2018, the B.C. RCMP’s specialized child exploitation unit was handed information uncovered by the force’s federal national child exploitation co-ordination centre, pointing to someone living in the Vancouver area allegedly posting photos of suspected child pornography to a photo sharing website.

The B.C. child exploitation team investigated further and determined that the suspect who had uploaded the images was likely living in North Vancouver, according to the RCMP.

The North Vancouver RCMP investigated further and executed a search warrant at a home in North Vancouver, which led to the charges being laid on Nov. 7.

Dylan Phillips, 21, of North Vancouver, has been charged with possessing, accessing and making child pornography available between May 1 and Nov. 15 of 2018. He has also been charged with internet luring of a child or someone he believed to be a child between Nov. 12 and Nov. 15 of 2018.

Phillips appeared in North Vancouver provincial court Nov. 13 and was released on conditions.

He is expected to make his next appearance in court on Dec. 11.

Phillips has not yet entered a plea to the charges and none of the charges have been proven in court.
