The Thai-Vietnamese street food-inspired chain Basil Box is continuing its expansion into western Canada and are adding a second Metro Vancouver location. The casual fast casual eatery will be opening in Burnaby next year as part of the Amazing Brentwood expansion.

Basil Box began in the Toronto suburb of Mississauga a few years ago, started by a Ryerson grad who wanted to bring a better quality of quick-serve Asian food to the marketplace. The founder took his honeymoon in Thailand and Vietnam to research the flavours and dishes he wanted to include, and Basil Box was born.

The franchised chain has since added numerous locations in the Toronto area and Ottawa, as well as in Calgary. Basil Box continues to push west, with one Vancouver location on Burrard Street downtown. They are prepping additional Alberta locations as well.

Basil Box offers a “mix-and-match” model. Customers start with a base of rice, noodles, or greens, and then add veggies, proteins, sauces and toppings in unique combinations.

Basil Box also offers gluten-free, keto, low-calorie, low-fat and high-fibre options for people with specific diets. A number of their options are vegan-friendly.

Basil Box will be located at 4567 Lougheed Hwy in Burnaby.
