EAST BIDEFORD — Prince Edward Island RCMP say three people are dead following two separate crashes in the western part of the province.

Police say two people died following a single-vehicle crash around 8 p.m. Friday on Route 163 near the Burleigh Road in East Bideford.

A 22-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, both from Prince County, were pronounced dead at the scene, while a woman in her 20s, also from Prince County, was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

There’s no word on the cause of the crash and police say their investigation is continuing.

Earlier Friday, police say a man in his 40’s was killed when his potato truck crashed in Carleton West Prince.

The Mounties say the truck was travelling along Route 2 when it went off the road and overturned.
