A $1 million lottery winner from Richmond was so calm, even her husband and daughter didn’t believe her at first.

Lisa Tsang kept her cool after realizing she had scooped $1 million in the Lotto 6/49 Guaranteed Prize draw on Aug. 22.

“When I realized I had won, I was in shock and disbelief, but remained very calm,” Tsang recalled, after checking her numbers on bclc.com.

The frequent Lotto 6/49 player then managed to maintain her poker face in front of her husband and daughter after telling them she was B.C.’s newest millionaire.

“I was really excited to share the news with my husband, who didn’t believe me at first,” Tsang said.

“I told my daughter I was a winner too, but like my husband, (she) was very skeptical.”

The Richmond winner said her family finally believed her once she showed them her winning ticket.

Tsang purchased her ticket at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Richmond’s Garden City Centre and claimed her prize using BCLC’s alternate prize-claim process.

She says her first priority for her win is to pay off her mortgage.

“A million dollars is a lot of money,” she said. “I will have more financial freedom.”

So far in 2020, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $81 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
