The great doll conspiracy of 2020 has made its way to B.C.'s interior.

Social media is abuzz with outraged parents after it was revealed two popular brands of children's dolls are not quite what most moms would expect.

Hasbro has pulled its Trolls World Tour Giggle & Sing Poppy doll from store shelves over placement of a button in the crotch that elicits giggles and gasps from the toy.

And the LOL Surprise doll has become the focus of attention since a Facebook live video showed a mother dipping her daughter's dolls in ice water to reveal temperature-changing graphics of skimpy lingerie, thong bikinis and thigh-high stockings.

Vernon resident Jessica Sword‎ posted in the Vernon & Area Community Forum Facebook group that she found one of the Trolls dolls still on the shelf at the local Walmart.

She took it to customer service, as Hasbro advises.

"Not sure if everyone is aware of this doll yet or not, but they were in our local Vernon Walmart!" she posted. "Batteries were dead, but I still took them to customer service, as they have the button on the bottom that supposedly giggles and gasps when you press (it)."

The post generated dozens of comments, many expressing anger at the design of such a toy intended for children.

Both dolls have generated a backlash, with parents calling them "disturbing" and a means of grooming children for sex.

Hasbro responded to the furore with a statement saying: "This feature was designed to react when the doll was seated, but we recognize the placement of the sensor may be perceived as inappropriate. This was not intentional and we are happy to provide consumers with a replacement Poppy doll of similar value through our Consumer Care team. We are in the process of removing the item for purchase."
