While this week's Vancouver weather forecast includes some rain and cloudy skies, B.C. saw sizzling temperatures over the weekend. In fact, the province smashed 13 temperature records on Sunday and another six on Monday.
Carmen Hartt, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, tells Vancouver Is Awesome in a phone interview that a strong ridge of high pressure pushed into southern B.C. on Sunday, Aug. 16. As a result, several weather stations across the province broke daily maximum temperatures.
Moving forward, however, Hartt says the Lower Mainland will see a couple of rainy days this week and cooling temperatures. Specifically, she notes that the ridge of high pressure is moving east and allowing for more of a flow.
That said, Hartt notes that the weekend is expected to be warm and sunny, with next week's forecast calling for some above-average temperatures.
