Squamish RCMP are announcing they have opened the stretch of Highway 99 north of Alice Lake following a closure that lasted hours, starting around midnight.

At about 8:40 a.m. on June 29, officers announced on Twitter the road was once again open following a fatal crash involving two vehicles.

Police posted on social media that there were also “additional persons with serious injuries.”

The reopening occurs after the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, or ICARS, was on scene.

ICARS is responsible for the forensic reconstruction of collisions that result in serious injury or death throughout the province.
