West Shore RCMP have arrested a suspect in a car-jacking incident where a woman with children was forcibly removed from her vehicle Saturday morning in the Hillside Avenue-Shelbourne Street area.

Victoria Police Chief Del Manak said on his X account the suspect forced his way into an occupied vehicle, forcibly removed the female driver and yelled at her children to get out of the car before driving off.

Manak posted at 7 p.m. Saturday that the suspect was arrested by West Shore RCMP with assistance from Victoria and Saanich police. He called it “a very troubling and dangerous incident.”

Victoria police had earlier asked the public to help identify the man.

The vehicle was taken from the woman in the area of Hillside Avenue and Shelbourne Street at about 9:30 a.m.

Police released a photo of a man who they say was a person of interest in the investigation.

VicPD said if anyone has information on the suspect or if they were in the area and interacted with him at that time to call the E-Comm Report Desk at 250-995-7654 and reference file #25-24281.
