SURREY, B.C. — RCMP in British Columbia have identified a 19-year-old who was fatally shot in Surrey on Sunday night.
Sgt. Frank Jang says in a statement that Harman Singh Dhesi was found inside his vehicle with gunshot wounds shortly after 10:30 p.m. and later died in hospital.
Mounties say the victim was known to police and the shooting is believed to be a targeted.
They say police will be working to determine the motive, and the provincial Coroners Service is also assisting the investigation.
Jang says the initial phase of any investigation is critical as police move quickly to gather time-sensitive evidence.
He's appealing to anyone with dash cam video from the area of 137A Street and 90 Avenue to contact police or Crime Stoppers immediately.
