Son faces murder charge in death of B.C. woman found in her home

SQUAMISH, B.C. — RCMP say the son of a woman found dead in her home earlier this week in Squamish, B.C., has been charged with second-degree murder.

SQUAMISH, B.C. — RCMP say the son of a woman found dead in her home earlier this week in Squamish, B.C., has been charged with second-degree murder.

Police say officers discovered Barbara Waite, who was 64, on Wednesday night after a family member reported finding a body inside the home.

Officers determined that the victim, later confirmed to be Waite, had met with foul play, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in.

Police say Vancouver city police took Waite's 21-year-old son into custody a short time after the report was made.

Ryan Grantham is next to appear in provincial court in Vancouver on Thursday.

The investigation continues and anyone who may have information is asked to contact the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team or Crime Stoppers.
