If you were paying your medical services plan premiums via automatic payment through your credit card or bank account, don’t forget to cancel it.

That’s because MSP payments are a thing of the past in 2020, as the B.C. government has essentially transferred the tax to businesses.

People are reminded, however, that they must pay any outstanding balances they might owe.

Although British Columbians no longer pay the premium, they must remain enrolled in MSP. The plan will continue to provide eligible B.C. residents with provincially insured health-care benefits.

The MSP cancellation will save up to $1,800 a year for B.C. families and as much as $900 for individuals.
