Canadian military personnel are seen assisting in the rescue of stranded motorists on Highway 7.

Motorists who were forced to abandon their vehicles on Highway 7 near Agassiz when they were rescued by helicopter earlier this week can now reclaim their cars.

The provincial government announced Friday the vehicles have been towed to the Agassiz Community Centre at 6660 Pioneer Avenue.

Hundreds of drivers were trapped overnight between two landslides on the highway.

Drivers can now retrieve their vehicles by 8 p.m. Friday evening after first contacting Reliable Towing at 1-888-463-8621. Owners will need to bring a government-issued ID.

Highway 7 has since been reopened to essential traffic only between Hope and Agassiz.
