A new curling rink opened this week in Tulameen.

Tulameen resident George Mapson says fellow resident Scott Evans has created a full regulation-sized curling rink on Otter Lake.

The ice was cleared using a snow shovel and leaf blower, then dyed with food colouring. The leaf blower has also been used to keep the sheet smooth.

“It’ll be the Otter Lake curling club until the ice melts,” Mapson says.

A curling rink was constructed on Otter Lake by Evans a few years back, says Mapson, explaining they need the correct weather and ice conditions to allow for its installation.
