A man who pleaded guilty to sexual assault regarding two Metro Vancouver transit incidents will be sentenced in March.

A man accused of groping a woman on a SkyTrain near Commercial-Broadway and another woman on a bus has pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault.

Vancouver Provincial Court documents said Grant Lionel Houle committed the offences between June 29 and Dec 3, 2019.

In December 2019, a woman boarded a westbound train at Nanaimo Station and felt a hand grope her buttock several times. She saw the man next to her had his hand in that area of her body.

She then asked another passenger to push the onboard alarm

Transit Police said when the train arrived at Commercial-Broadway Station, both the victim and the suspect got off. The victim immediately spoke to a SkyTrain attendant and pointed out the suspect.

That attendant contacted officers, who spoke with the victim and arrested Houle a short time later on the pedestrian overpass.

In the follow-up investigation, he was found to have an outstanding warrant from an incident on a bus in June 2019.

Sentencing is expected to take place in late March.
