VANCOUVER — The Transportation Safety Board says it is sending a team of investigators to the scene of a fatal plane crash at a remote site east of Vancouver.

The board said in an email that its team will gather information and assess the occurrence.

A single-engine Cessna went down Monday at what Mission RCMP described as an abandoned air strip near the north end of Stave Lake, north of Mission.

A 66-year-old woman was killed, while a 21-year-old woman survived.

Police said she was being treated for undetermined injuries at an area hospital.

Names of the two women have not been released but RCMP said in a statement that they continued to investigate and were assisting the safety board in its work.

The B.C. Coroner's Service was also investigating.
