Woman injured by partially full beer can thrown from truck near Lake Cowichan

RCMP say the woman suffered a medical emergency after being struck in the head and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A woman was knocked unconscious after being struck by a partially full can of beer thrown from a moving pickup truck near Lake Cowichan.

RCMP said the incident occurred about 11:45 p.m. Saturday in the area of the Laketown Ranch, where a weekend music festival was underway.

Police said a group of four people were walking in the area of Youbou and Meades Creek roads when a 22-year-old woman was struck by an open can of beer thrown from a moving truck.

RCMP said the woman suffered a medical emergency, but was revived through life-saving first aid on scene before being taken to hospital for treatment.

As of Sunday, the woman remained in hospital in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
