COFFEE #3

Name: Todd Towers

Occupation: President and Creative Director

Beverage: Starbucks coffee

I recently read a theory that going for 50 coffees with people you've never met is the entrepreneurs equivalent to the theory that doing anything for 10,000 hours will make you an expert on it. While I get the idea, 50 coffees is far easier than practicing something for ten years, and while I'm far from lazy I've decided to set out on a fairly simple mission: over the next 50 weeks I'm going to invite 50 interesting Vancouverites, most of whom I have never met before, to go for coffee. I'm going to use this as an exercise in networking for myself and for V.I.A. while also using it as a platform to introduce you to some people who are doing really cool stuff in the city you live in.

Meet Todd Towers. Entrepreneur, art consultant, world traveler, Todd heads up Farmboy Fine Arts, a Vancouver-based international art consultancy firm that cultivates site-specific art collections for the hospitality, healthcare and corporate sectors. They've been operating here for the past 11 years, quietly securing art collections for clients around the world. Over coffee we talked about the recent collection that they put together for the Hotel Georgia (click HERE for Montecristo's story about FBFA and specifically that project) and then he walked me through this massive project they did in Abu Dhabi where a developer essentially built an island from nothing then constructed an Indy track around it with 6 luxury hotels in the centre which Farmboy secured all of the artwork for. They do work beyond the hospitality industry but that's their main thing, and their client list is nuts. Have a look at FarmboyFineArts.com to learn more about this local business you may have never even heard of before.
