Fresh off the heels of Earth Day, Vancouver-based Luumi launched a crowdfunding campaign that exceeded their Kickstarter $10,000 goal in just 48 hours.

Tupperware is a great way to cut down on disposable plastic, but many brands are made using synthetic compounds that can be harmful to your health, especially after prolonged use. Fortunately, local companies like Luumi are crafting design-forward solutions to the world's plastic problems.

Luumi offers a line of reusable bags, cups, containers and straws that are made from pure, platinum silicon. Similar to glass, silicon is made from sand, offering consumers a sustainable alternative to plastic that's also more durable and practical than glass containers.

According to their Kickstarter page, Luumi contains no PVC, BPA or BPS, Phthalates, plasticizers or fillers of any kind, just 100% pure platinum silicone.
