Right In Our Back Yard: Mount Seymour

Yes! Skiing in April... you could be wandering the sidewalks of Vancouver one minute, and in less than an hour, be skiing on a mountain. While flowers are blooming in the city, the local mountains are still getting fresh snow almost daily.

Yes! Skiing in April... you could be wandering the sidewalks of Vancouver one minute, and in less than an hour, be skiing on a mountain.

While flowers are blooming in the city, the local mountains are still getting fresh snow almost daily. So I took advantage of this on a rainy Sunday afternoon, and once again, with my trusty Zipcar - this time it was "Maynus" (a Mazda 3) - and headed up to Mount Seymour for an afternoon of skiing.

Despite the rain at sea-level it was snowing on the mountain, and the fog/clouds created a dreamy blanket of white that made it feel like a chair lift was taking you straight to heaven, instead of the top of the mountain. It was a great day for snow, and just so you know, Mount Seymour has spring ski passes on sale, allowing you to ride until the snow is gone (which will take a while, seeing as they got 100cm of snow in a week!).

Thanks to Mount Seymour and Zipcar for a wonderful Sunday!

Also, there is the best sign on the way up to Seymour!:
