It’s time for “Stick in Link”, the feature where we just plug in a bunch of stuff written by others! Featuring a smattering of links from around the Smylosphere and beyond every Tuesday and Thursdayish. Warning: our links are so hyper, they change colour when exposed to heat. (Have something for us to share in the next edition? E-mail us at [email protected] or tweet us @passittobulis. Or tell us some other way. The point is: we'll probably link it if we know about it.)
- The Canucks announced today that Anton Rodin is out indefinitely http://www.vancourier.com/pass-it-to-bulis/anton-rodin-can-t-catch-a-break-1.7696434, but he opened up over the weekend that his knee just wasn’t right: “It’s been so long, I don’t even know where I was before anymore,” he said. “I don’t even know where I am now.” [The Province]
- Meanwhile, Ben Hutton is out 3-6 weeks with a fractured hand, because this is the Pacific Northwest: when it rains it pours. You could, if you were feeling cynical, question why it took them ten days to figure out that Hutton had a fractured hand. [Canucks Army]
- I had people insisting that the Canucks’ game against the New Jersey Devils was an exciting game, but even the master of spin himself, Henrik Sedin, described it as “like watching paint dry.” And it was beige paint. [Sportsnet]
- Dave Tomlinson was on TSN 1040 extolling the virtues of Nikita Tryamkin, suggesting he can be a top-four defenceman. Honestly, I think that undersells his potential. I honestly think he could become a top pairing defenceman with the right partner. Am I crazy? [TSN 1040]
- The Canucks’ original Swedish superstar, Thomas Gradin, and Tony Tanti, one of the best goalscorers in franchise history, are heading to the BC Hockey Hall of Fame,. They will be joined in the class of 2017 by Dave Nonis, Brad Lazarowich, Ron Toigo, John Shannon, and the 1996-97 Allan Cup Champion Powell River Regals. Best part: Tanti’s killer shirt in his interview with Joey Kenward. [Info News]

- Chris Tanev is one of the best defensive defencemen in the NHL, but his underlying possession numbers haven’t looked great this season. Janik Beichler goes into his numbers and points out that his defensive numbers are as good as ever, but his offensive numbers have taken a dive. [The Canuck Way]
- Jackson McDonald argues that the Canucks’ recent win streak will be damaging for the team long-term, not because he’s pro-tank, but because the Canucks’ management has a tendency towards being reactive rather than proactive, and will act rashly when they get into close proximity to the playoffs. [Canucks Army]
- Bo Horvat earned his way to the All-Star Game because he refused to accept mediocrity. Like, was someone aggressively pushing mediocrity on him? Have you tried not trying so hard? It's awesome. Sure, it means abandoning all of your lifelong dreams and likely losing millions and millions of dollars over the course of your hockey career, but other than that, mediocrity is great. [Sports Illustrated]
- The Canucks have gone full Willie D according to Always90Four, who describes the power play as a “bone marrow dog fart.” [Always90Four]
- Want to get pumped up for the rest of the season? The Canucks new video is plenty rocking, but I question their use of the team’s terrible nicknames for the players: Guddy? Millsy? Sutsy? Tanny? Come on, guys. Also, why in the world is Derek “Dors” Dorsett, who underwent surgery and is likely out for the rest of the season, in this video? The use of the song “Feel Invincible” by Skillet seems somewhat ironic when two of the players featured, Dorsett and Gudbranson, are out of the lineup with serious injuries.
