Stick in Link: The Canucks are undefeated; Sutter plays it cool

It’s time for “Stick in Link”, the feature where we just plug in a bunch of stuff written by others! Featuring a smattering of links from around the Smylosphere and beyond every Tuesday and Thursday.

It’s time for “Stick in Link”, the feature where we just plug in a bunch of stuff written by others! Featuring a smattering of links from around the Smylosphere and beyond every Tuesday and Thursday. Warning: our links are so hyper, they change colour when exposed to heat. (Have something for us to share in the next edition? E-mail us at [email protected] or tweet us @passittobulis. Or tell us some other way. The point is: we'll probably link it if we know about it.)

  • I'm leading with Eric Duhatschek's take on the Canucks' win, because I especially like this groaner of a paragraph: "Fitz & The Tantrums were the musical guests, but four hours later, it was Canucks’ goaltender Ryan Miller who’d given the Flames fits and just about everybody on the Calgary side was trying hard not to throw a tantrum, after such a lackluster performance." Wonderfully lame. I approve. [The Globe & Mail]
  • Chris Tanev is leading the NHL in plus/minus. Yeah, I know it's only been one game. That doesn't make the statement any less true. It just adds context. Fun-ruining context. [Nucks Misconduct]
  • Brandon Sutter on skating with the Sedins, perhaps in perpetuity: “We’ll see. Who knows what’s going to happen down the road. The coaches are trying to find chemistry and find things that work, and I thought all four lines went well tonight, so I’m sure we’ll see the same thing next game. Good to get that good start and some chemistry going and score a few goals.” Quit playing it cool, Brandon. You've got Sedin fever and you know it. As they say: once you go orange... hmm. I've written myself into a corner here. [Vancouver Sun]
  • The Canucks are back, which means Jason Botchford's Provies are back as well. There's some good stuff in here on the Frank Corrado situation. [The Province]
  • Meanwhile, Provies reliever Wyatt Arndt is warming up in the bullpen. [Vancity Buzz]
  • Five takeaways from the Canucks' season-opening win, courtesy the erudite Thomas Drance. [Sportsnet]
  • think the Canucks were trying to encourage the Toronto Blue Jays when they sent out this tweet about the time they faced the Rangers in the playoffs. But, like, they lost, so I'm not sure how this helps. [Deadspin]
  • This is from yesterday, but its' even more relevant now that the Canucks are never going to lose again: what has to happen for Vancouver to make the playoffs. [The Province]
  • According to a report, there's a "good chance" the YoungStars tournament may begin to alternate between Penticton, where it's usually held, and Red Deer. That's fine, so long as they continue broadcasting it, and the broadcast quality continues to improve. [Canucks Army]
