Vancouver Coastal Health is warning of COVID-19 exposures in three more Richmond schools.

Three more Richmond schools have been identified as having COVID-19 exposures by Vancouver Coastal Health.

The health authority has listed the schools on its school exposures webpage.

An exposure occurred at Gilmore elementary on May 11 and at Cambie secondary on May 12.

There was an exposure at Hugh Boyd secondary on May 6 to 7 and May 10 to 14.

Exposures occur when someone with COVID-19 was in the school during their infectious period. However, according to the health authority, in the “vast majority” of cases, there is no transmission of the virus in the school setting.

Earlier this month, Health Canada authorized the Pfizer vaccine for kids between 12 and 15 years old, after the company completed a clinical trial which found it was safe and 100 per cent effective at preventing kids in that age group from getting COVID-19.

Details about vaccination of children aged 12 to 17 are expected to be announced later this week.

Other recent school exposures in Richmond include Anderson elementary (May 5 to 7); Bridge elementary (May 6 to 7); MacNeill secondary (May 4 to 7); and General Currie elementary (May 5 to 7).
