B.C. reports 874 new COVID-19 cases in the province, one new death

The vast majority of the cases are in Fraser Health

British Columbia recorded 874 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the province in the last 24 hours, according to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

The new cases as of April 29, 2021 bring B.C.'s total to date to 128,763 COVID-19 cases.

The new cases break down by health authority as follows:

  • 187 Vancouver Coastal Health
  • 574 Fraser Health
  • 29 Island Health
  • 60 Interior Health
  • 24 Northern Health

Dr. Henry reports there are 503 people hospitalized right now in B.C. with COVID-19, of which 178 are in critical care or ICU.

There are seven current active outbreaks in care facilities in the province.

There has been one death in the last 24 hours in British Columbia, which occurred in the Interior Health region.

The provincial death toll for COVID-19 to date is 1,577.

So far, 1,749,375 doses of all three COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in British Columbia. 

Dr. Henry notes that some of the data, like how many British Columbians are under active monitoring and the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the province was not available at the time of Thursday's press conference, however, that data will be updated shortly on the BC CDC COVID-19 dashboard online.
