There was a COVID-19 exposure at R.M. Grauer elementary in Richmond, according to Vancouver Coastal Health.

A COVID-19 alert has been issued for another Richmond school.

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has added Grauer elementary to its online list of school exposures, warning that people at the school may have been exposed to the virus on Feb. 5 and Feb. 9 to Feb. 11.

A school exposure occurs when someone with COVID-19 was present in the school during their infectious period, according to the health authority.

Richmond School District’s superindentent Scott Robinson told the Richmond COVID-19 Community Task Force earlier this month that, to date, there hasn’t been “a single case of transmission in any of (the district’s) schools.”

Earlier this week, the Richmond News reported how exposure notices were sent to families by Hugh McRoberts secondary, Whiteside elementary and Steveston-London secondary.

According to VCH, there was an exposure at McRoberts on Feb. 10 to 11, at Steveston-London on Feb. 10 and at Whiteside on Feb. 10 to 11.

A separate exposure alert was also issued for Steveston-London earlier this month, for Feb. 1 and Feb. 3.

According to the BC School COVID Tracker database, an online group that tracks COVID-19 cases in schools across the province, there have been more than 3,100 exposure incidents at 946 schools – 572 of which have had multiple exposure events.
