COVID-19 public exposure warning issued for Maple Ridge gym

Fraser Health encourages those who visited Olympians Gym during the specified times to self-monitor for symptoms of the virus.

Gym-goers who visited Olympians Gym in Maple Ridge, BC during a particular set of times earlier this month are encouraged to self-monitor for symptoms of the coronavirus, says Fraser Health.
Fraser Health on Friday issued a coronavirus public exposure warning for a Maple Ridge fitness facility. 

Olympians Gym, located at 22611 Lougheed Hwy, now appears at the top of the health authority's list of recent public exposure sites. Though the potential exposure events are believed to be low risk, Fraser Health is warning gym-goers who visited the Metro Vancouver business during a particular set of times earlier this month to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and seek testing if necessary. The possible exposure warning covers a three-day span from Feb. 17 to 19, and applies only to the hours of 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on each of those days. 

There is no known risk to anyone who entered Olympians Gym outside of these specified dates and times. If those who did remain healthy and do not develop any symptoms of the virus, they are not required to self-isolate and are free continue with their usual daily activities, according to Fraser Health. 

Symptoms to watch out for include fever, chills, cough or worsening of chronic cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, loss of sense of smell or taste, headache, fatigue, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting and/or muscle aches.
