Vancouver Coastal Health has issued coronavirus (COVID-19) public exposure warnings for two Vancouver martial arts studios.
Two locations of Gracie Barra, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school, are now at the top of the VCH public exposures list and the warnings cover multiple dates in early February.
Gracie Barra Vancouver: 53 E Broadway, Vancouver B.C.
- Potential exposure date(s): Feb. 4 to 6, Feb. 8 to 9, and Feb. 11 during operating hours
Gracie Barra Kitsilano: 3611 W Broadway, Vancouver B.C.
- Potential exposure date(s): Feb. 1 to 6 and Feb. 8 to 10 during operating hours
"Unfortunately we had some cases of COVID-19 within members of Gracie Barra Kitsilano and to keep everyone safe and stop the spread of the virus we will be closing the school for the next 2 weeks," said Gracie Barra Kitsilano Feb. 12 on its Facebook page.
The same message was shared on the Gracie Barra Vancouver Facebook page. The Vancouver location's usual home is 2440 Main Street, however, the operation has temporarily relocated to East Broadway due to the massive fire on the block in October 2020.
If you visited either of the Gracie Barra locations during the times of possible exposure, it does not mean you will develop COVID-19. The possible exposures are believed to be low risk but, out of an abundance of caution, Public Health asks anyone who may have visited the location listed on the specified dates and times to monitor themselves for symptoms and seek testing as warranted.
There is no known risk to anyone who attended any listed locations outside of the specified dates and times. If people remain healthy and do not develop symptoms, there is no need to self-isolate and people can continue with their usual daily activities.
If you have been identified as a COVID-19 case or close contact, VCH Public Health will contact you directly and provide further instruction.
Prior to putting the two martial arts studios on the list, VCH last issued a COVID-19 exposure warning earlier this month for the Cactus Club Cafe restaurant in Yaletown. VCH keeps listings for exposures for one month before removing the locations from its list.
