A part-time employee at a Vancouver location of T & T Supermarket has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Canadian Asian grocery giant provided an update to its store worker COVID case listings, indicating the following store is affected:

  • Marine Gateway - 458 SW Marine Dr, Vancouver.

The last day the infected employee worked was Jan. 21.

This is the second recent employee COVID-19 case at this particular T & T Supermarket location; just a few days ago another part-time store worker was confirmed to have the coronavirus. That infected employee last worked Jan. 17, according to the grocery chain's COVID-19 case tracker.

T & T, which is owned by Loblaw, is among the few major retailers in Canada to publicly share employee COVID-19 case information in a public forum.

Loblaw uses a separate public online case tracker to share information about infected store workers at their brands Shoppers Drug Mart, Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, and more.

On Jan. 25, Loblaw indicated a store employee at its Real Canadian Superstore in Langley (19851 Willowbrook Drive) had tested positive and had last worked Jan. 20.

Sobeys, Inc, which operates Safeway and Thrifty Foods, among other familiar B.C. chains, also posts case information online, while Save-On Foods does not.

Retailers like Quebec-based home improvement store RONA shares updates on its Facebook page and McDonald's Canada has an online case tracker.

T&T CEO Tina Lee shared a statement on Jan. 13 about its policy of reporting employee cases online, saying: "Informing our customers is not just a service, it's a responsibility."
