Fraser Health on Saturday added a general store in the Fraser Valley to its current list of public COVID-19 exposures.

The health authority is encouraging anyone who visited the Hope River General Store, located at 28605 Trans-Canada Highway, during the dates and times listed below to self-monitor for symptoms, but cautions that any possible exposure listed is believed to be low risk.

The dates and times included on the list are:

  • Thursday, Aug. 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

It should be noted that any exposure to the virus on the first two dates listed occurred more than two weeks ago, which health officials have consistently said is the incubation period for the virus.

There is no known risk to anyone who visited the General Store outside of the above-mentioned dates and times, Fraser Health added. If people who may have been exposed to the virus remain healthy and do not develop any symptoms, public health officials say there is no need to self-isolate, meaning people can continue with their usual daily activities.

Common symptoms of COVID-19 to watch out for include fever, chills, a cough or noticeable worsening of a chronic cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, loss of sense of smell or taste, headache, fatigue, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting and/or muscle aches, noted Fraser Health.

Anyone experiencing one or more of these symptoms, however mild, is asked to use the B.C. COVID-19 Self Assessment Tool, call 8-1-1, seek testing and then self-isolate. Those seeking tests should call ahead and wear a mask.
