Fraser Health issued a pair of public alerts Saturday, Feb. 13, warning guests and clients of two Surrey establishments that they may have been exposed to the coronavirus during recent visits.
The first COVID-19 exposure warning was posted Saturday afternoon, notifying the public of a possible exposure event identified to have taken place at a Port Moody Pub on Tuesday, Feb. 2. The health authority encouraged anyone who attended trivia night at St. James Well Pub, located at 248 Newport Drive, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on that date to self-monitor for symptoms of the virus.
Those who visited the West Coast Basketball and Performance Centre during a six-day span earlier this month are also advised to keep an eye out for symptoms. Fraser Health posted a second public exposure alert for the Surrey athletic facility early Saturday evening. The possible exposure event at the Unit #19, 5684 Landmark Way performance centre took place during "various times" from Feb. 1 to 6, according to the health authority.
Fraser Health says each of these possible exposure events are believed to be low-risk. There is no risk to individuals who visited any of the listed locations outside of the specified dates and times.
Like other B.C. healthy authorities, Fraser Health continues to update its list of locations flagged as potential COVID-19 exposure sites in instances where public health officials are unable to reach or identify all individuals who were potentially exposed to the virus.
Those who do experience any symptoms—including fever, chills, cough or worsening of chronic cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, loss of sense of smell or taste, headache, fatigue, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting and/or muscle aches, however mild—are encouraged to fill out the B.C. COVID-19 Self Assessment Tool, call 8-1-1, seek testing and then immediately self-isolate.
